Why You Should Let Your Light So Shine, Even When Darkness Tries to Fight It

As I have grown more and more in the spiritual things of God, with more to grow into, I’ve developed more of an awareness, as so will you as you grow into the same, that many ways of the world have been strategically twisted to conceal what needs to be known. For example, that old adage, “what you don’t know won’t hurt you” is NOT always the truth. Many times it’s a tool of appeasement to keep you from probing deeper into what needs to be known. Yes, it may not hurt you if you didn’t know that I ate a slice of pizza today, but it would hurt you if you did not know someone embezzled money from offshore accounts in relation to something that affects you. This is partially what The Lord refers to in Hosea 4:6, where it states; “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge…” This is not necessarily referencing knowledge we learn in school, but additionally & first & foremost, knowledge of God, AND… knowledge of other happenings we don’t know but should.

In that verse, God was speaking to spiritual leaders who had turned away from Him to self-indulge on their own desires, worshipping idols that fed those desires stoked with jealously of others who were or seemed more blessed or better fit for the work He called them to. All the while, influencing the people who followed them to follow their idolatrous ways.  This caused the people, from all walks of life, to stray away from The Lord, and follow immoral ways that were against His will. Imagine how this affects society; our school, economic, healthcare, and government systems, to say the least.

When used appropriately, Truth is Light, and Light is Power. God is Light. James 1:17 mentions God as the Father of Lights. In John 1:9, Jesus is described as the “…True Light…”, and in John 1:5, it’s explained that “… the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” Much can be read into the phrase “…darkness did not comprehend it.” In other versions, such as the NIV, it states that “…darkness has not overcome it.” For, the sake of the context of this article, I will stick to the concept of darkness’ lack of comprehension of the light.  For, there are many who operate in darkness who cannot understand the benefit of the light.

John 16:8 teaches us about the Holy Spirit that, “…when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.” God Loves You! God Loves ALL of us, and that’s why He’s sent us His Spirit to help us out of the blindness of walking in darkness. The conviction that the Holy Spirit brings, in addition to comfort and wise counsel, is NOT to condemn but to steer us FROM ways that bring Divine condemnation! And, I want to remind you, Jesus’ Work on the Cross does not abolish the law, but fulfills the law by giving us two major things: a Final Sacrifice for Atonement for Sin AND the Holy Spirit, which when we accept Him and don’t continuously and deliberately grieve Him, empowers us to turn from our own ways of living to God’s ways of living.

Luke 8:17 says “For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing concealed that will not be known and illuminated.”

As Jesus was from the beginning with God, according to John 1:1, and is the same yesterday today and forever, we see in Ezekiel chapter 8 where God revealed all detestable things done in darkness in His temple. He had Ezekiel probing into walls and closed doors, discovering the messy misconduct that went on behind them. This was not to equip Ezekiel to gossip or use truth to hurt anyone by slander, but it was to set things right to help the innocent affected, as well as to give people who did those deeds a chance to accept God’s grace, experience His hope, and escape Divine judgement.

Know, beloved of God, that condemnation isn’t only referencing that which comes for eternity, but what happens right here in the land of the living. Without the light, secret and shameful things go on in the dark; behaviors that would continue, at times, simply because no one knows about them. How many do you know who told the truth about some shameful deed done in the dark but was threatened shunned and ignored, so those evil deeds continued? It only takes to know one, to understand that point of view. And, perhaps, that one person was you.  Children taken advantage of because those taking the advantage won’t allow anyone in, who will discover and uncover what they do to the children. Or, people getting fired because they know too much of dirty truth, and so are seen as liabilities to the organization’s underhanded and undercover standard operating procedures that keep them functioning. Without warning, Divine retribution is bound to come to those responsible for those dark deeds while The Lord protects & shields the innocent. Which is why entire nations can fall into the hands of their enemies due to secret and shameful strategies that were discussed behind closed doors only between those involved, without any proper oversight that shines a light.

From the very young and innocent, from the mouths of babes, utterances of what’s actually right, children are known to express fear of the dark. As many grow older, this concept is taught to be wrong, and they become less afraid of the dark. And yet, though maybe not explicitly taught, become more afraid of the light for fear of what might be found. This, yet another human practice that opposes the ways of God, when thought of on the spiritual and moral levels. I say this not to suggest that we should literally live in fear of the dark; for, fear isn’t of God. But, I say this to encourage a healthy concern regarding activities done in secret that are harmful to others and/or to a person’s self.

Luke 8:16 encourages us not to cover our light in saying; “No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.” Those who operate in deeds of darkness won’t be pleased but peeved that the spotlight’s on them. But, John 3:20,21 reminds us that “Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.” So beloved, if you’ve been positioned for such a time as this, to shine the light on some areas that could mend a relationship, release & heal the abused, or to save a country from destruction brought upon it as a result of dark deeds conducted from within, let your light so shine, no matter how much those who walk in darkness fight you.

Know, The Lord is on your side. May He strengthen you by loosing His Spirit of Light and His Spirit of Truth to ensure you shine brightly for the entire time, and in every area, needed.

3 Reasons to Think Twice Before Participating in Some Practices of the Supernatural

Tarot cards, ouija boards, horoscopes, mediums, spiritualist, horror movies, crystal balls, oh my…!

Unlike the lion in “The Wizard of Oz”, revealed a lovable harmless encounter, in reality, some elements of the supernatural are something to beware of as much as a real life wild lion.

As humans, we are hungry to know what the future holds. Hungry for power, provision, protection, and peace of mind. But, some don’t realize they’re hungry for the “Presence” of The One and Only Living God, wherein all of those things they’re hungry for, and more, are available. Yet, with much needed “regulation” for our own good, so to speak. Because searching higher spiritual things in ways that aren’t aligned with God’s ways can open portals of danger that can suck us in like black holes in the universe.

With Halloween nearing, The Lord brought back to my attention something He revealed to me on the day of Halloween of 2014.  During the 7am hour that morning, I heard, “I will teach you a doctrine that will make you suffer and writhe in pain.” This wasn’t the Lord Himself speaking to me but Him allowing me to hear the true intentions of Satan through certain spiritual practices, including the pagan celebration of Halloween, that have been orchestrated to lead us into darkness.

To understand more about why God wants us to be cautious so not to be drawn into what looks and sounds good and easy at the surface, let’s begin with Deuteronomy 18:10-11,13, in which The Lord lovingly informs His Children; “…Don’t try to learn what will happen in the future by talking to a fortuneteller or by going to a magician, a witch, or a sorcerer. Don’t let anyone try to put magic spells on other people. Don’t let any of your people become a medium or a wizard. And no one should try to talk with someone who has died…”

In God’s eyes these are occult practices, witchcraft, & divination, and violates His first commandment: “You shall have no other gods before me.”, in Exodus 20:3. Now, though God’s, self-admittedly, a Jealous God and He considers consulting other spiritual sources for our needs idolatry, there’s more to His asking us not to do that, than His just wanting us to Himself. Here are a few reasons getting involved with occult practices can be detrimental for us. The first is that it can present…

Detours Off Paths of Life

God speaks, but the devil speaks also!

As one who’s an Apologist by nature for the Gospel of Christ, I’ve had conversations with others who often believe we can use any tools, including any religion, and access the same God. But, we’re explicitly informed in John 14:6 by Jesus that “…No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” What I kindly and respectfully caution each is to keep in mind, God is a Spirit, but He’s only “one” spirit. There are many other spirits out there too, harboring intentions contrary the goodness of God’s Spirit, because they’re evil. And, because they’re so, they can be deceptive, such as demons posing as Angels of Light, pretending to help while leading people who access them, down the wrong path, away from God. In 1 Chronicles 21:1, that says; “Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel.”, we see King David being led to do something against God’s Will because he was being led by the voice of Satan, and didn’t seem to recognize it until it was too late.

When you access the spirit realm in ways God didn’t approve, you may speak to spirits seemingly of God, but aren’t and thus, gives you the devil’s agenda for your life instead of God’s, causing you to abandon God and His Ways, if you choose to follow. The Lord cautions His people, in Deuteronomy 12:30,31 ERV; “…be careful that you don’t fall into the same trap they did! Don’t go to their false gods for help… These people do all kinds of bad things that the Lord hates. They even burn their children as sacrifices to their gods!”

Deuteronomy 12:31 NIV, says it a bit differently; “You must not worship the Lord your God in their way…” Which is essentially saying, don’t even worship The Lord using pagan practices, because it’ll lead you to oppose God’s Will. Since the days of the Levite Priests, God’s given us His approved tools, which included Urim & Thummim for temple priests, along with prayer, praise, reading of His Word, most of which we still use today.

Accessing the spirit realm can make you feel quite powerful. Yet, when done with God, He gradually matures you by practice so you grow to recognize differences between good and evil, states Hebrews 5:14. For, dabbling in the occult can make it appear like a person has spiritual power resembling God’s but comes instead from a counterfeit Holy Spirit, which is simply an indwelling evil spirit. See Acts 16:16-18 for an excellent example solidifying that it’s not only important to avoid occult practices, but also to grow continuously in The Lord to be enabled to discern who has His authentic Holy Spirit versus is being led by an evil spirit. Be careful of falling for hyped touts of power, for not all power is God’s power. And, when God’s not in it, we can get…

Drawn Towards Making Greater Unhealthy Sacrifices

These supernatural tools can, for some, have a “gateway drug” effect, and people go searching for more powerful methods of accessing the spirit realm, creating a dependency on them, instead of on God. This can cost a person some of the most important parts of themselves, and who they are.

Leviticus 20:6 is another cautionary Scripture where The Father warns us; “Whoever turns to mediums or spiritists to prostitute himself with them, I will also set My face against that person and cut him off from his people.” When you prostitute yourself, you’re giving up precious valuable elements within yourself to get something, no where near your worth, in return. To keep a long explanation short; God asks us to sacrifice ways of life that degrades us, but the devil asks us to sacrifice blessings in life, such as dignity, integrity, innocence, freedom, & peace, just to get what his methods claim they can get for us.

Another factor to keep in mind that helps to stand strong against the pull of unhealthy supernatural encounters is that…

Doorways to the Inner Spirit are the Eyes and Ears

One most noted times I remember, after recommitting my life to Christ, was watching horror movies and gory shows, and feeling extremely uncomfortable. Not convicted, just extremely disturbed by discomfort. What I eventually realized was that the Holy Spirit who was now working in me, was grieved by ungodly spirits I was allowing in my atmosphere and spirit, with which God dwelled. I remember sitting on my couch one night after about the third time that happened, saying to myself; “I have to stop watching these shows.” And, so I did.

Romans 10:17 mentions that “…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” It’s what we see and hear that can influence us. Thus, there’s a need to regulate the gateways to our souls.

There’s so much more regarding accessing the spirit realm, tapping into the supernatural! What I pray for you, and any connected to you, is that you seek The Lord for whatever it is you hunger. For Jesus tells us in John 6:35, “… ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” And Psalm 107:9 says of The Lord; “for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” In the Presence of The Lord, you have all you need: Peace, Power, Provision, Protection, Perseverance. And the one trait it gives you above all the other methods of obtaining these, is control over instant gratification with: Patience. With all that, and more, beloved, you are Blessed!

Have you recently considered, or begun, reaching out to supernatural practices outside of God, to discover what’s going to happen in the near future in any area of your life?

If so, I’d love for you to learn how to seek God directly for your desires and needs. For, I’ve often said Divine Revelation Begets Self-Revelation. And, now, It’s Your Time!

Take Part in the Master’s Happiness in the Work You Do

How would you describe how you feel about the work you do? It’s my hope for you that your answer would be similar to: “I look forward to going to work on a Monday morning with genuine enthusiasm!”; “Most things I think & say about my work are great things!”; “I enjoy what I do so much that, despite what’s going on in my life, I make the time & take the effort to do it and I’m fulfilled at doing it.”; (And, this one seals the deal) “I love what I do so much I’d do it for free or a little of nothing in many situations!” If your response conveys anything stark opposite of all of these, you may be living beneath your Kingdom of God Inheritance when it comes to the work you do!

Over my lifetime, I’ve had many different jobs, in various industries, such as; supermarket cashier, bank teller, wholesale insurance assistant claims adjuster, and IT professional. Though, for a couple of those, I once loved them, none fulfills me like what I do now as a Life Coach. Job and career changes are common among most people, for a plethora of reasons. Often embarking on a search for either increased compensation, greater autonomy, or career advancement. Sometimes, it’s to find relief from a job or career that’s the bane of their existence, all the while unaware that they’re actually searching for purpose.  And, then there are some who remain at one job for several decades. Though at times, not necessarily because they love what they do, but maybe because they’re too apprehensive to pursue what really fuels a fiery fervor within. Perhaps you, beloved, have simply thought it’s more important to be grateful for what you have than to pursue a job or career you enjoy. And, yes, gratefulness is a correct and commendable attitude. But, what if I told you that God wants you to be grateful, AND… enjoy the work you do, too?

Ephesians 2:10 conveys that each of us, including you, are here for a purpose, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.” These good works may not always be related to what we do as a vocation, yet, I believe that under God’s plan for our lives, liking what we do to make a living results from how He created us with strengths and weaknesses, which aligns with our likes and dislikes that come naturally to who we are at our core. As The Lord told Jeremiah, before He formed you in your mother’s womb, He knew you. He knew what He was preparing and equipping you to do once you arrived and thrive forward here. Thus, what allows us to be ourselves is doing that which is most fitting to our unique makeup, sparking joy and fulfillment inside of us. The wisest person who ever existed, King Solomon, stated it best in Ecclesiastes 3:22, “So I perceived there is nothing better than for people to enjoy their work, because that is their reward; for who can show them what the future holds?”

Feeling joyful in your work helps you to stay in the now, not wishing you had something to make you happy from the work of your days behind, nor spending endless waking hours wishing you can have something different in the days ahead. When I was a young girl, my friends and I often bought candy called Now & Later. They came in a package of individually wrapped pieces to make it easy to snack on periodically.  The idea was to eat some of it now, and save some for later.  I liken that to having sweet vocation now, not only to have a sweet one later, but it keeps you looking forward to building upon what you do in your work today because you know it’s building a better tomorrow. For the seed you plant and cultivate today, can bloom beyond what you ever imagine it to be as God gives the increase.

Now yes, additionally, truth is, there are times you may need to take a job of integrity because you have responsibilities to take care of, whether it’s a family and/or bills for possessions and services because what you’d prefer just doesn’t seem to be happening as quickly as you’d like. Thus, positions that are available at that time, may not appear to be ideal to the Divine dream you’ve been given. Does that mean you don’t take it? Not always, and here’s why: Colossians 3:23,24 “Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men, because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”  And, because of that, keep in mind that The Lord can still work out that Divine dream through that seemingly unrelated job. Thus, that means you also don’t have to stay there, if you know that’s not where you’re ultimately are supposed to be!

To illustrate my point, first, most of the world wouldn’t relate a position as a Shepherd of Sheep to the likes of being King of a Nation, without having looked into the positions and their duties deeper. Yet, the transferable skills that David gained while a Shepherd of sheep prepared him to guide, provide, nurture, and protect people. Second, the Prophet Samuel anointed David as King soon after King Saul was made King. David, however, had to go through a series of experiences to prepare for that Kingly position, and in the process, among other valuable pieces of wisdom, he learned what kind of King NOT to be as he dodged the antagonistic ways of one that was unbearable to work for. I say all this to say, the position you are currently in, or may need to take, that is unrelated to your dream, is NOT the end! It may be used by God as part of the process to prepare you for what you would rather have! So, even while in it, DON’T give up, but keep on working towards your dream in other ways, willing to be prepared to eventually Go Up in all God has for you!

In doing this, it’ll give you incentive on doing what needs to be done in a way that you don’t bury the talents God gave you under a pile of fear and/or complacency. You can learn to enjoy even the less than ideal job because you’ll begin to understand how The Lord is using it to polish you, to enable you to shine the brightest when you get that ideal position.  Because most importantly, it can ready you for promotion into what you’re Divinely created to do, willing and powerfully equipped to do the work with excellence!  It’s that elevation to the next level The Lord, our Master, will annouce to you, as said in Matthew 25:23; “… ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little, I will put you in charge of many things; share in the joy of your Master!’”

I’d love to hear from you!

Battling Bullying Like a King

“Hey! Didn’t you wear that shirt the day before yesterday?!” Shortly thereafter, were snickers and laughter at what my more popular classmate taunted me about.  If I remember correctly, I was about 10 years old, living with my grandmother who was raising me alone, on a retail store sales clerk’s salary, after my grandfather passed away many years before. She was able to afford my school clothes with her employee’s discount, but with needing to maintain ownership of a two-story single family home, purchase food for us, among other things, she did the best she could to stretch my limited wardrobe by having me wear my outfits twice a week.  Though mixed and matched between those days, my classmate seemed to notice.  Stunned a bit by what she teased me about, I simply didn’t respond to her question, and continued on about my way.

Some of my experiences with teasing and taunting during my school years were quite normal compared to what some others experience when it comes to bullying. Looking at some stories today, if it weren’t for my faith that God is bigger than any bully our children will ever face, it could render an apprehension to allow them to attend school at all. Many want to end bullying, and that’s a proper and admirable thing to do.  I’d like to take a moment to say, however, that though all things are possible with God, and though we can improve upon reducing its frequency, until the New Heavens and the New Earth come forth, that’s highly unlikely.  I touch upon why a little later. Thus, I think it’s more important to focus on teaching our little ones to handle bullying appropriately when they see or experience it. And, there are a couple of Kings we can glean a little from, regarding dealing with intimidating confrontation, amicably: King David and none other than Jesus, the King of Kings.

The first thing we can pick up after King David, when he stood under the looming Goliath is, that Bigger Isn’t Always Better. It doesn’t matter how wealthy anyone is or how important one seems, how old they are, how smart they may be, nor how big they are in stature. What we see from young David is that when your child learns to understand themselves, including their values, in light of how God equipped them, they’re able to address certain situations in the ways most fitting to them and the situation at hand, no matter how large the opposition seems. What matters is them knowing the power within them, and understanding how to translate that into what they have in hand at that moment. Take for example, how many young people today have taken on the gigantic challenge of bringing forth better gun control. Certainly, the government, the adults that run it, and the laws the adults put in place are a Goliath to these children. But, what they have in hand is their ability to speak up for their rights for safety without backing down.

Next, Young David decided to Take a Grand Stand. One thing that allows bullies to continue to do what they do is no one standing up to them. David saw this older person, seemingly more equipped, towering feet above his own yet to mature stature, but he offered to stand up to Goliath’s taunting. And, this wasn’t even David’s battle! He decided to stand up for others who were being bullied.  A sure way we and our children can be emboldened to stand up to giants, when needed like David did, is to consistently kneel before God.  Expectedly, your child may think of standing up for themselves, and much more for others, as frightening, but David knew two things: the right thing to do was to stand up for others and he knew that God was with him; for, God will never ask us to do anything that He won’t help us to do in the most fitting ways.

Third, it’s important for your child to just be themselves, as the Best Fit Is the Skin They’re In!  It’s all too easy to fight back with the same type of arsenal of those doing the goading.  David tried on armor that wasn’t fit for him, and took it off, deciding to be himself.  This can be difficult sometimes, because what’s said directly to your child, or about them to others, can be extremely hurtful, and they may want to retaliate with something equally hurtful.  Yet, when they believe of themselves, as David believed of himself to be God’s Masterpiece in Psalm 139:13-14, where he said to The Lord; “You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.”, what others say to, or about, them won’t sting to the point of making them reach for things that don’t fit who they truly are to get through tough encounters. For, winning a battle with a bully isn’t based solely on stopping or disproving what that bully says, but more about what your child truly believes about themselves.

Earlier, I mentioned that we may be able to reduce bullying but never really rid this world of it. Why is that so?  Mainly, because Bullies Grow Up Too.  As we see, with David and Goliath, Goliath was an adult.  Unfortunately, not every child that was a bully on the playground, grows out of that role before entering a boardroom, and sometimes your adult child’s living room, depending on who your child allows into their close circle.  So, this is a great reason to teach your young child, now, how to overcome antics of those who need to invoke excessive control.

Lastly, to lessen chances of your child’s heart developing hard feelings, which can, in some cases, cause them to become bullies too, is to encourage them that Compassion Opens Way to Freedom. It’s Jesus, the King of Kings who exemplified this best when after all the hurtful things that others did and said to Him, He found it in His heart to ask The Father, to forgive them because they know not what they do. What exactly does that mean for your child? Well… most times bullies need help too, and bullying is the only way they know how to handle their fear, or their anger at what might be happening to them at school or at home. It may be the only way they know how to feel safe, or how to become or remain popular. In Jesus’ words, they know not what they do in terms of how to achieve inner courage, resolve inner or external conflicts, or how to feel confident. So, they do them in detrimental ways. Helping your child to forgive, strengthens his or her resilience by ensuring they remain flexible, never too hardened to allow these experiences to break them.

As a great start, instilling those five things, in your precious little gifts from God, you can cultivate courage, confidence, and compassion that’ll help them to be healthfully prepared for, and proud with, how they can make a difference during these kinds of confrontations; ensuring they get victory, in battles with any bully, like a King!

I invite you to start the Victory Like A King challenge with this question:

~~ Which one will you begin working on with your child, today?

I look forward to hearing from you!

7 Tips to Busting Prayer Blockers & Boost Your Blessings

What does your blessings look like to you? Casting that mountain you face out of your way? Commanding the storm around you to quiet down and be still? Does it look similar to finding a coin is a fish’s mouth that’s worth enough to pay your bills? What ever they look like for you, know that you’ve got what it takes to have patience through the mission to work with God to boost your blessings into fruition. It may not resemble a resolution in one fell swoop. Instead, it may be something God does that gets you around your mountain. Maybe He’ll place the peace inside of you while the winds & rains continue. Or, it could be provision via the unconventional while you’re expecting the conventional. In any case, no matter how God answers, He answers prayer. This is something I wish I had known about prayer years ago.

Just about a year before I recommitted my life to Christ, and during a trying occurrence that was happening in my life at the time, I had given up on prayer in that situation. I was frustrated, and had told my aunt who encouraged me to pray, “If God was going to answer, He would have answered by now.” Little did I know that God always answers prayer. He always gives a “Not Now”, a “No’, or a “Yes”, according to your best well-being. And, sometimes He answers at a time in which we think it’s too late, but because of His all knowing Sovereignty, it’s the perfect time. The problem back then was that I didn’t stay with it long enough to hear or recognize the answers He was giving. I also wasn’t aware of the blockers that often come to discourage us from praying, or those that obstruct answers.

Fast forward to the present, several years later, having come closer to God, I often say my greatest regret wasn’t doing it earlier because since I have, I’ve simply been astonished at the Presence and Power of God in my life. Even in recent times, of having a dear family member battle through a hospital/rehab back & forth cycle, totaling 4 straight months away from home, God showed Himself mighty in all His Glory, in addition to other situations, through answered prayer. My uncle is home now, getting stronger and steadily recovering, thankfully for all the prayers that went up on his behalf and opened the windows of Heaven for The Lord’s miracle and healing virtue to flow.

In Luke 18:1,7-8 ERV “…Jesus taught the followers that they should always pray and never lose hope… God’s people shout to Him night and day, and He will always give them what is right. He will not be slow to answer them. I tell you, God will help His people quickly…” But, too often, we get tired, impatient, or think He’s not listening when He truly is hearing what you pray. As a matter of fact, King David, who was a man after God’s own heart, at one time, according to Psalm 10:1, thought God had turned His ear away but David decided to keep praying anyway.  As a result, he got through some of his toughest times, conquering everything he faced!

Beloved of God, if you feel they haven’t manifested yet, I want you to see the blessings you pray for begin to flow for you, too. So, following are seven common hindrances to prayer, and tips you can start consistently applying today that’ll help you to bust away blockers to boost your blessings!

#1 – No Time For Prayer

A very common challenge is finding time for prayer. Life just seems to get in the way. Dedication to endeavors take precedent. Commitments to promises you’ve made take longer than expected. It even seems that no matter how much technological advances are available to help save time, there just no more time!

Blocker Buster Tip: Set Your Mind to Guard Your God Time!

I’m believing for you that knowing how important prayer is to your body, spirit, and soul, to fostering that inner peace, as well as, manifesting outer benefits in your home, workplace, and other environments, with God’s help you can find some time. The Lord will help you to do anything that is in His Will. And, the bottom line is, He wants to spend time with you. He knows all about you; more about you than even you know about yourself that He wants to enlighten you about. He, also, wants you to get to know Him.

Two things that can put you at ease when trying to carve out and set aside prayer time with The Lord is first to know that you have the right to claim and guard your time diligently and lovingly. In Matthew 14:15, it says of Jesus, “After sending the people away, He went up a mountain to pray by Himself. When evening came, He was there alone.” Sometimes, beloved, you may need to politely let those around you be on their own, as appropriately as possible, so you can retreat to a quiet place to be refreshed replenished and restored during your time with The Lord.

Second, you will still get to your promise, even as you shift some of your time from pursuing your endeavors, to pursuing God. The Father would not allow your time with Him get in the way of you completing the purpose He created you to do. It will actually empower you to do it more efficiently and effectively! We can see an example of this in Joshua 3:9 in which the Children of Israel were in the midst of their journey towards their promised land, yet Joshua instructed them to, “…Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God.” For, listening is an important part of prayer too. It helps you to rest in Him by being still and taking in what God has to say about Himself and any situations you bring to Him in prayer.

#2 – Guilty Feelings

Sometimes it may be a little intimidating to enter into God’s presence when feeling like He may chastise you for something you’ve done, or thinking He doesn’t want to speak to you because of it. Whether the guilt is valid, meaning it is your responsibility to take on as a consequence for something you did wrong, or whether you’re taking on guilt for something that really is not your fault, guilt could be a blocker to wanting to pray, and thus a blocker to blessings.

Blocker Buster Tip: Pray Anyway; the Only Way to Take Guilt Away

Beloved, God has always known that sometimes you’d make mistakes or poor decisions. For that reason, He has made way through Jesus to rectify those deeds. As a matter of fact, Hebrews 10:19-22, says “And so, brothers and sisters, we are completely free to enter the Most Holy Place. We can do this without fear because of the blood sacrifice of Jesus. We enter through a new way that Jesus opened for us. It is a living way that leads through the curtain—Christ’s body. And we have a great priest who rules the house of God. Sprinkled with the blood of Christ, our hearts have been made free from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. So come near to God with a sincere heart, full of confidence because of our faith in Christ.”

This means there’s no need to feel ashamed to approach the throne of grace in your time of need. I talk more at length, in (Pod)Casting Potential’s episode 19, Want to know 3 Keys to Happiness?, about how it doesn’t matter what you’ve done, The Lord still wants you to come nearer Him. Also, touched upon in that episode is what to do with guilt that is not rightfully yours. If you haven’t already, please take some time to listen, to hear what will help you to not only remove the guilty feelings by way of prayer, but also to increase your happiness. To start you off to rid yourself of the guilty feelings that keep you away from prayer, use The Prayer that Can Change Your Life. Beloved, God is always willing to hear your prayer of sincere repentance, and move forward to use you in whatever capacity He’s purposed for you. From there, as you continue in communing with The Lord, you will begin to see great positive changes in your life!

#3 – Fear of Hearing Unpleasant Truths

Fear of hearing conviction of wrong doing, or a Divine request for you to let something go, not always things bad in & of themselves, but sometimes possibly not in God’s Will for you, may have you hesitating to pray.

Blocker Buster Tip: Accept Adaptation to Tough Truths like Taking Needed Medication

Allowing the Truth to help you is not a bad thing at all. Scripture says that God loves you like a loving father who disciplines His children. Hebrews 12:5,6 reminds us stating, “And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, ‘My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastens everyone He accepts as His son.’” I remember one time speaking with a woman who told me that her relationship with her mother was so strained because she held a bit of disappointment that her mother didn’t chastise her more. Apparently, it made her feel like the fact that her mom was so extremely permissive meant that her mother didn’t care about her. My having studied Psychology and understanding various roots behind why some people do what they do, in a situation such as this, the underlying reasons a parent would do such a thing can be so much more involved, and so should not be judged. However, the point is, that God appropriately disciplines, not too harshly, but with mercy and grace. And that is love because God at His core is love. 1 Corinthians 13:6 ESV tells of love, that “it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” So, He will at times correct you if you are going down a path that is detrimental to the great destiny He has for you. He will also correct your understanding of some things because the enemy is out to confuse and misdirect you with twisted truths, as he did with Adam and Even in the Garden of Eden. Rejoice, beloved! Not in the frequency of having need it done because God would rather you obey more than He needs to discipline. But rejoice in the fact that He loves you enough to do so.

It is part of God’s nature to correct via conviction because He is Righteous. Jesus teaches us about the Holy Spirit in John 16:8,9 saying that; “When He comes, He will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in Me”. This is not to condemn you but to keep you from condemnation because He’s given you and me patient chances to come into His presence as we are, by way of being covered in the righteousness of Christ. Yet, He does not want you to remain as He found you. He wants to heal you, progress you, and take you higher than you’ve ever been. Sometimes that means letting some things go that would otherwise be blockers, weighing you down.

Beloved, even I as one who brings you messages of The Lord, will not cheat you out of opportunities of living a Divinely healthful life by hiding the truth from you. Yes, God wants you to hear what you want to hear. He wants you to hear you are forgiven. He wants you to hear that the windows of Heaven are opening up to pour you out blessings that are pressed down, shaken together, and running over in your lap. He wants you to hear that He loves and accepts you always. AND… AND… AND… He wants you to hear what you “need” to hear to keep you out of traps that are hidden beneath words that are used as the enemy’s bait by way of “only” telling you what your itching ears want to hear. You can trust that you, as you heed, according to Proverbs 15:32; “…life-giving correction will be at home among the wise.”

#4 – Not Knowing What to Say During Trials

Tempting you to not even put in the time to pray, is not even knowing what to pray in a tough situation. But it’s not impossible to pray, as we see in Jonah 2:1 that says “While Jonah was in the stomach of the fish, he prayed to the Lord his God.” Even in the most challenging circumstances, when you are in a place you may have never thought you’d be, sometimes you may not even know what to pray.

Blocker Buster Tip: Jesus is Enough to Start; for He Knows Your Heart

Beloved, the wonderful part is that the Presence of the Holy Spirit does what you can’t, and He is wherever you are, RIGHT NOW!  According to Romans 8:26, it conveys that “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” So, in a case or situation such as this, retreat to a private place anyway. Then for as long, or as many times, as you feel the need just sit with seeking Jesus on your mind. I pray, as you do, that the ministering Angels of The Lord encamp around you to meet you where you are. You may be quite surprised at what wonders come out of just sitting in His presence. Though you may not talk, the Holy Spirit knows you inwardly, and prays to The Father for you. This is, essentially an urgency form of prayer when you have no words to pray.

#5 – Unfit Motivations

Definite hindrances to answered prayers can be unfit motivations! There are two to be cognizant of: #1-no motivation to pray and #2-improper reasons for requests. James 4:2,3 covers both reasons, conveying, “You want things, but you don’t get them. So you kill and are jealous of others. But you still cannot get what you want. So you argue and fight. You don’t get what you want because you don’t ask God. Or when you ask, you don’t receive anything, because the reason you ask is wrong. You only want to use it for your own pleasure.”

You may have heard me speak of how I had been a prodigal child, away from The Father for about 20 years. It wasn’t until I recommitted my life to Christ, and began to get to know Him and His Will, that I realized reasons why He didn’t seem to answer some of my prayers back then! I was periodically sending up prayers for things that weren’t good for me, AT ALL! Or, they were simply not for me. And, I was too far away to hear Him say, “No. You are My child, you deserve better than that.” When I think back on what I was asking for at times, I often say, “what was I thinking, asking for that?!” Now, I praise Him in thankfulness that I didn’t get what I asked for!

There’s a way to reduce these kinds of hindrances, though. Throughout this post, you’ve been given some tips on how to keep your motivation to go to God in prayer, and ask for what you want in the first place. This next tip is to help you to ensure your reasons for asking, and what you actually ask for, are a help and not a hindrance to your prayers.

Blocker Buster Tip: Be Still to Know His Will

1 John 5:14-15 NIV encourages us saying, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.”

We learn God’s Will by adding to our prayer time, Bible study via personally reading the Bible or attending Bible studies. This is equivalent to meeting someone new, and spending time with them to hear them tell you about themselves. And, as you do this, you learn what they like and dislike. You begin to recognize their voice, their patterns, their desires, and as you be still to get to know that He is God, you’ll get familiar with these wonderful things about Him too. And, He’ll assist in guiding you towards what’s best for you, from His higher point of view!

#6 – Thoughts that God Seems Too Far Away

Trust, beloved, He is right there with you!  Thinking God’s too far away to hear what you have to say is an easy thought to have when you’re not quite sure how God speaks to you. Or, you may think He doesn’t speak at all. Yes… I assure you, He does.

Blocker Buster Tip: Close the Gap by Making Frequency Taps

During the time I was that prodigal child, I wasn’t close to The Father, but I hadn’t lost my faith that He existed. I didn’t understand, however, that He is a bi-directional communicative God. For a long time, I perceived God as an arbitrary Spirit in the sky that really didn’t interact much with us on Earth. And, so prayer was but periodic, in moments of desperation, or much desired wishes at times, with no expectation for a real response. It wasn’t until I had gotten back into church, and Bible study that I realized God has always spoken to His people. And, He still does, but sometimes we are the ones who drift away, not in the space of distance between us and God, because God is everywhere. But, drifted away by way of not tapping into the frequency that enables us to tune into His Voice. Hearing the Voice of God, is a topic I discuss at a greater length than I can do in this blog post, in my (Pod)Casting Potential episode 11 called “4 Ways to Start or Improve Hearing the Voice of God”.  If you haven’t already, I encourage you to listen to it, and download the free checklist that will guide you towards getting as close to God as you’d like to be. For, James 4:8 says to “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you…”!

#7 – Delays & Doubt

Experiencing delays and doubt can be serious show stoppers to prayer. At times, they may even make you think that God isn’t there, has forgotten about you, or is too busy for you. None of these are the case at all!

Blocker Buster Tip: Trust, Continuing to Confide in The One who Presides

Trust, keeping confidence, that God is a Rewarder for your Faithfulness in seeking Him through Prayer! Per Hebrews 11:6, “…believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

Additionally, Hebrews 6:10 & 10:35-37 NIV reminds us that “God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them… So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. For, ‘In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.’”

The end of those sets of Scripture just provided says that God will not delay. And, He doesn’t. What seems like a delay to you is part of His Divine schedule. Every now and again, God may test your faith to grow your patience with what seem like delays, in the natural. Other times, it may be a case where Angels assigned to your prayer requests are caught up in some Spiritual realm tasks or battle sent to hinder them from bringing you the answers to your prayers, such as Daniel experienced in Daniel 10:12-14 ERV, which says; “‘…Daniel, do not be afraid. From the very first day you decided to get wisdom and to be humble in front of God, He has been listening to your prayers. I came to you because you have been praying. But the prince of Persia has been fighting against me for 21 days. Then Michael, one of the most important princes, came to help me because I was stuck there with the king of Persia. Now I have come to you, Daniel, to explain to you what will happen…’”

Beloved, your prayers are being heard! The Angels who faithfully do The Lord’s bidding have been assigned and are in route. At times they may be delayed in getting you the answer you seek, but believe that God is Omniscient. He is all knowing, and so knew what was going to happen before it happened, thus He worked even that into your plan to have it work out in Divine timing! And, as we are reminded in 2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV “…do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness…”

Additionally, one of the biggest tactics the enemy uses is to get you to doubt that God is Who He says He is, or that He will do what He says He will do. The enemy does things to cause you to doubt your prayers because he knows that as per Luke 10:19 you’ve been given power that is more powerful than the power he has. Prayer is the conduit through which The Lord delegates His Power to us, which makes sense why the adversary goes through extreme measures to cut off that connection. He knows that through prayer, and progression into Spiritual Maturity helps you to discern the difference between good and evil, and you receive strength and greater measures of faith to stand in the Truth of God’s Word and Ways.

We see he tried this with Job, wherein Job prayed to The Lord, but the enemy kept sending attacks against his life trying to render Job faithless and doubtful of God and the effectiveness of his prayers. I decree and declare this will not, or no longer, happen to you! As a matter of fact, I cancel break and destroy every toxic tactic that would come against the lives, and God-given endeavors, of you and yours from this point forward! In Jesus Name! As you press on in prayer, you’ll come out on the other side triumphantly, just as seen in Job 42:10,12, where Job’s perseverance in faithful prayer brought him out stronger and more blessed than before!

Beloved, your blessings are waiting for you! Waiting to be released unto you, as you use which ever blocker buster tips that apply to you, and “pray continually, give thanks in circumstances…” per 1 Thessalonians 5:17,18, never giving up. For, The Lord’s interventions are on their way, and will manifest to His Glory in your life! Therefore, as I stand in faith with you and for you, I speak forth a birthing of your own testimonies of how God shows up and shows out for you!

3 Tips That Can Drive You Towards Being Intentional

As I was driving two hours to visit my uncle, I found it a bit difficult to stay in the speed limit. Either my foot was too heavy or too light on the gas pedal. And so, for a brief few minutes, I considered using cruise control. Interestingly, I haven’t used the cruise control feature on any of my cars since I began driving over 20 years ago! So, just as I had decided back then, after using it briefly a couple of times, I chose not to use it this time.

You see, when I tried cruise control, I remember not liking it for several reasons. At that time, though, I chose to use it because I heard it saves on expending energy. It increases comfort while driving long distances, and allows you to relax a little. And, what I wanted to use it for, even this recent time, it helps keeps you from breaking rules of safety. That sounds great, right?! Absolutely!

This is what life can make you want to do sometimes. In its fast pace, it makes us want to step out of the rat race, and just get some rest. Leaving us feeling like we don’t want to face and conquer inevitable challenges of making decisions and necessary changes. There’s a bit of relaxation that comes with not having to think on our toes all the time. And, wanting these things can cause us to put our lives on cruise control, sometimes unintentionally. But, likewise in doing this in life, I remember quickly realizing that something was reduced when cruise control was in use. It was very tempting to over relax, and let other forces take over, by setting aside a necessity, which is to Be Intentional.

Being the Masterpiece, the Handiwork of God, He was Intentional in how and why He created you. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Though, our lives were predestined, it’s not good for us to ride through it on cruise control, hoping to wind up where we belong. Why? Because we encounter roadblocks, detours, and turns that require our attention, with intention, to get to where we’re supposed to be. God is our life’s designer, but He chooses to be our Partner. Therefore, we are the ones who ultimately decide for ourselves whether or not to follow that design.  This requires us to Be Intentional.  You don’t want to, for example, set out to go to Houlihan’s and wind up, for the sake of coasting, at a greasy spoon restaurant.  Instead, as you align your heart to the Will of God, and pay attention to your intentions, it saves you from living an accidental life, so you will live an intentional life!

So here are just a few tips on becoming more intentional that can help you to live your life of purpose on purpose. These will not only help you, in your overall life’s purpose and destiny but also in any goal setting and getting activities, along the way during your daily life. It’s not as hard as it sounds to Be Intentional. You can start with getting directions to your desired destination.

Tip #1 – Get Directions to Destination

It helps to be ready to take Intentional Steps. As you have often heard me say, God is our GPS, the one who has the bigger picture of the map of our lives. He knows how He has designed you. He knows what stages and levels you are supposed to be on at every phase of your life. He, also, knows how to get you there. Additionally, The Lord desires to assist you, even with the smaller task and goals that are integral parts of completing the larger whole. Partnering with Him, through prayer and listening, can take you places you never imagined! You’ll be fully operational in the fullness of who you are as a three-part being; body, spirit, & soul to plan out your steps to your aspirations and heart’s desires. The next thing, after you understand the path to take, is to Be Intentional to alertly keep your mind on the road.

Tip #2 – Mind the Road & Remain Alert

Intentional Attention is key! You see, when using cruise control, because you’re tired, wanting to relax and rest, it becomes all too easy to be tempted to simply drift, not really paying attention, at times. This can cause you to miss important turns. Galatians 5:25 encourages us that “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Beloved, God is on the move all the time; never backward, but forward. But, when you choose to put your life on cruise control, it has a tendency to take your mind off of when to slow down, or even to speed up, to keep up with the Spirit of God and where He’s taking you.

Just before my smart phone provided an update to its GPS system, I remember wishing it had a speed limit display. I had become accustom of my old one beeping at me when I was driving too fast. But, most importantly, sometimes if you’re not paying attention, to the signs, you can miss them and be driving for miles at a speed too slow or too fast. As you mind the road and remain alert, to remain in step with Divine timing, it calls to Be Intentional to make these kinds of, and other, appropriate adjustments.

Tip #3 – Appropriate Adjustments

Making Intentional Adjustments are paramount to any successful plan. For, no project is completed without encountering glitches and hitches. As with cruise control, you may face unexpected road conditions; rain, snow, road closures, traffic jams, etc. This is the not the place to try to cruise right through them on cruise control! There’s a need to Be Intentional about getting through or around them. A call to be diligent in finding out, and making, the most appropriate adjustments to achieve the most successful outcome, in that circumstance, to get to your destination as planned. During these times is not the time to turn away from God, giving up on your goal(s) and destiny! But, a time to turn to Him, and discover the impressive new ways He presents to you, towards the prize!

In your life, in your project on your job, in your personal goals, where can you begin to Be Intentional? If you have been, please give God the Glory and celebrate yourself! You both absolutely deserve it! It’s an admirable achievement! Yet, if you haven’t, that’s ok too. It’s not too late to make your first Intentional Adjustment by starting with prayerfully answering the following few questions to get and embark on directions to your desired destination; ramp up your attention to mind the road & remain alert on the path you discover towards your endeavors; and to understand where you might need to start making other appropriate adjustments to ensure no unexpected encounter, NOTHING, holds you back from finishing strong!

In any area of your life that’s most important to you right now:

  1. What necessary steps are needed to get to your destination?
  2. Where are some points, in your journey to arrive at the finish line, that have somewhat drifted, that seem to be off schedule or off path?
  3. How can you make some adjustments to ensure you get those drifted areas back on track, or go around some obstacles that you unexpectedly encountered?

As you begin to prayerfully do this, being transparently honest with both yourself and God, and put your Faith into Action on the results to Be Intentional, I’m believing your latter days will be greater than your former!

And, as your Biblical Life Coach, I’m delighted, as always, to help you further along with taking deeper dives into this discovery process, starting with your Complementary One to One coaching consultation!

I would love to hear from you! Please submit any thoughts or questions below in the comments area, or send them to my Ask Coach LuKeisha page! And, to invoke the Power of Prayer in Unity, please go to my Prayer Request page, and I’ll be happy to stand in agreement with you!

Try Just 4 Things, Consistently, When It Feels Like God’s Not Hearing You

Through the storms of life.
Through the winds and rains.
Through the confusion and strife.
Through the floods of pain.
Through the stripping away of all that you knew.
You’re left wondering what to do.
It almost feels like it’s more than you can bear.
But know it’s not, because despite, what it looks like,
God is still there.

Like David in Psalms 22:1, you wonder “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?” But, I want to encourage you, that despite the chaotic sounds of the happenings around you that can make it quite difficult to hear that still small voice which indicates the presence of The Lord, He is still there. Whether it was a literal storm, the whirlwind battle with illness, a bitter cold fall out with a partner or family member, God is there. According to Psalm 139:7,9 MSG “Is there any place I can go to avoid Your Spirit? to be out of Your sight? If I climb to the sky, You’re there! If I go underground, You’re there!” Beloved, there’s no getting away from Him! You are not alone! God is there!

Yes, you’re tired. Tired of feeling abandoned. Tired of feeling too helpless to do what needs to be done. Tired of being misunderstood. This, however, is the very time to forget and forgive the people who disappointed you, never give up on life, but instead look up to God. So, I’d like to offer you a few tips on looking up to God, a little differently than how you may have been doing so up to now. You may have been crying out to Him, and not hearing Him, but here’s the thing… you haven’t been able to hear Him through the screams of fear, nor see Him through the streams of tears. Yet, God is there. And, once you receive His peace that only He can give, quieting the storms within you, He will L.I.F.T. you up. The first thing you can do is allow yourself to…

Let it All Out

Yes, He already knows everything about you, how you feel, what you think, and the words you will say before they cross your lips. Regardless of Him knowing everything, just let it out. Know that because He knows everything that He already has the comfort, healing, strategies, and solutions you need in your situation. All of the things that He will reveal to you in due time. Express your hurt & pain, the raw vulnerable sensitivities of your heart. Respectfully let Him know what you’re feeling. Tell Him why you think you feel it. Ask Him for what you think you need. Let the pressure that’s building within you out in that safe place with just you and Him. He wants to hear you, so God is there. And, then you’ll be relieved to rest quietly in His presence as you…

Invite Him Near

James 4:8 says, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you…” Beloved, it’s ok to admit to God that you need Him. There’s nothing wrong with asking Him to come near, not just to solve your situation, but to help you to feel His presence. Now, you may be wondering that if He’s really already there, why do you have to ask Him to come near? Because God is like a watchful parent, who watches their children when they aren’t even noticing. The children are off doing their own thing, and have yet to take a break to talk to The Father. Sometimes we can look and see that our parent is at the window looking out at us, but we are either too far or too distracted by the noise of what we are immersed in, to hear what the parent has to say. Drawing closer to Him will help you to experience God’s presence that you know is there, but can’t seem to currently feel.

A time may come when you have no idea what to say to “let it all out.” That’s ok too. For Romans 8:26,27 reminds us that “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” This is a blessed benefit of being in the presence of God. That even when you have no idea what to say, maybe you have no idea why you feel the way you do, the Holy Spirit can stand in the gap for you until you reach a new level of clarity in your heart. He will give you strength and strategy; restoration and resolution; and empowerment for endurance. Ask Him to let you experience His presence, since God is there. It also helps to bless The Lord at all times, including the tough ones, when you…

Fascinate in His Glory

Circumstances good and bad, come and go. They change with the shifting winds. They are up and then down. They are stable and then chaotic. God, on the other hand, is a steady Rock. James 1:17 tells us that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.” The presence of God is a gift that embodies gifts! And, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What this means is that despite the bitterness of our experiences, it’s possible to still praise the sweetness of The Lord; acknowledging Him for who He is, what He’s done, and what He can do. Because what you go through doesn’t and can’t change how wonderful and awesome the keeper of our souls truly is. Seeds are planted to reap a harvest of joy when you proclaim His name to others, but this is also so when no one else is around to give you renown. Thank Him for being with you, because God is there. Because when you truly worship The Lord, it’s never in what have you done for me lately, but it’s simply trusting in Him with sincere acts to…

Trace His Goodness

There’s a popular phrase that says “Trust God when you can’t trace Him.” I would like to give you a shift in perspective, however, that will help you to always trace Him. To trace someone is, not just to follow where they are going, but to also see where they have been. Beloved, God has left an impeccably impressive trail of His good works that He’s done for others! Many in His Word, The Bible, but also in the testimonies of some others around you. Many will be in the past. Some may be recent things God’s doing for others. They can remind you of how good and faithful God is, and not just for them, but for you too! Remember His faithfulness, because God is there.

Whatever it is you are going through. Whatever has you feeling let down. God can L.I.F.T. you up. Let it all out, bearing your heart to Him. Invite Him near and His presence will calm your fears, and incrementally turn your sorrows into Joyful tears. Fascinate in His Glory with praise and worship, because God is good all the time and all the time God is good. And, you will see this as you continually Trace His Goodness. The more you do this, beloved, the more you’ll begin to recognize and experience His hand of favor upon your life, even during trials. The more you will trust Him. The more you will realize that He is true and faithful to His Word where He says in Hebrews 13:5, “…Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Then you will be able to say, as stated in Hebrews 13:6 “…with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid…” Because, you are not alone, beloved! God is there!

May The Father, who loves you more than you can ever imagine, help you to sense His love that is so high and so wide around you. May you embrace within your heart that His love is a love that “… neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate [you] from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38,39) I pray that The Lord gives you His peace that surpasses all understanding, and will guard your heart and mind in Jesus so that you will gain and maintain a mind and heart of Christ no matter the happenings around you, helping you to overcome every challenge in your path. May He LIFT you up in the lightness of His Spirit, inspiring you to say on each new day in which His mercies are new, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” (Psalm 23:6)

In Jesus Name. Amen.

Prayer for the Nations

Matthew 18:19,20 (NLT) Says,

“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, My Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as My followers, I am there among them.”

So, let’s stand in the gap for our Nations together! Please Agree on this Prayer for the Nations with me by typing your Nation (or Country) & Amen in the comments area below, even if it’s already there!

John 3:16 says, “For God so Loved the World…”! And, beloved, that includes YOU!

How to Know When to Let Go

A pursuit at holding onto something or someone you’re afraid of losing. Endeavors to attempt to regain something or someone you’ve lost. Efforts at trying to obtain something or someone you’ve never had but desire. These are all areas wherein the question that arises, after a long quest of trying, is: when is it time to let go? This may sound a little pessimistic to some, but one thing I hope you’ll appreciate is that God loves you too much to leave you on what may be a dead end road. So, hang in here with me the rest of the way, and may God open the eyes of your heart to be enlightened by His illumination of the blessings He has stored up for you. As hard as it is to let something or someone go, when it comes to what God has waiting to give you, once your hands are free, and though you may not be able to fathom it now, it will result in being the greatest thing you’ve ever done.

It can be common to feel overwhelmed, desperate, anxious, and irritable because what you’ve longed for seems like it will never happen. It can zap your energy, enthusiasm, and self-esteem, making you want to throw in the towel on everything. But, I want to let you know that two things you should never give up on are LIFE and GOD! Despite what may not be working for you, God has something greater for you ahead both right here in the land of the living and for eternal life beyond.

We know that with God all things are possible, right? So, why even consider when it’s time to let something or someone go? Because, unfortunately in the realities of life filled with the invigorating and the disappointing, it is possible to have faith for the wrong things. Unfortunately, when this happens, and faith seems not to work like a person thinks it should, I’ve seen them give up on God. This is a tragedy, when it really wasn’t anything wrong with God, who He is and how He works. It’s simply a misunderstanding of who He is, and how He operates in our lives.

It’s helpful to begin with knowing that God is a God of progress and of growth. He is a God that provides increase. What this means is that because we are created in His image and likeness, we too, are beings whose lives undergo a growth process for progress towards all we’re created to be. Every butterfly had to once let go of its caterpillar stage to increase its ability of movement with flight. The dragon fly lets go of what’s not working for him anymore by positively responding to the pressures of a shell that’s too small by breaking through it to free his increase. No, these transitions of letting go aren’t easy. Have you ever really looked into the process of a butterfly’s metamorphosis? Before it has any view of how its future will be, within the cocoon its essence is broken down into liquids to begin the process of becoming that butterfly. Yes, it’s painful to feel like letting go will break you down. But, it’s taking you towards an authentic essence of who you are, making and molding you, to prepare you for the beautiful outcome that’s in front of you! Beloved, whatever it is you’re holding onto, it may be a shell that’s too small. It may be a stage & season of your life that’s beneath the level you are suppose to be soaring at… if only you will let go.

Now, I’m intentionally saying, “it may be…”, so how do you truly know if it is time to let go? You can begin by checking to see if you and God are on the same page.

Match of Wills Prevents Stand Stills

First & foremost, like a child wanting a cigarette vs. a frozen yogurt popsicle, what you desire to achieve and receive is affected by if it is in the Will of God for you. This is not to say that what is in the Will of God will be easy to obtain or maintain. As a matter of fact, that is so far from the truth because the enemy will oppose almost every move you make, attempting to block you from doing what God destined you to do. There’s a way, however, to determine whether or not what comes against you is God saying no. Or, if He’s saying yes and it’s the enemy trying to block you.

If somehow you ended up outside of The Father’s desires for you, you’ll notice He’s lovingly corrective. In addition to that correction, you will look back in hindsight, seeing that He has already previously given you several warnings before hand by informing you with needed knowledge to enable you to make the wisest decisions. In these cases, in which you are chasing what is not in God’s Will for you, you’ll find yourself noticing and accurately saying more often than not; “It’s not working.” In sincerely seeking His heart’s desire for you, if you’re noticing these things: Let Go. He has something better for you!

In contrast, when you’re faithfully following God’s design, the enemy uses things like slander, deceit, gossip, threats, and manipulative trickery to hold you back from what you are pursuing. If you find this is the case, remember God is Sovereign and all powerful and never needs to fight dirty to get you to do what He wants you to do! So, HOLD ON TIGHT, IN FAITH! Whatever it is for you, that God wants you to do, DO NOT DROP THIS! The Lord is truthful. He will not tell you something then change His mind. And, as does a proud parent, He will often confirm the good steps you take in pursuing your endeavors.

Right Means to an End, End Rightly

Since He is a God of Righteousness, He will not approve of steps taken in deceit or underhandedness. As you walk with Him according to His leading, you will receive Divine assistance, from God and the Angels that do His bidding. In other words, He will guide you towards taking righteous actions towards what you are pursuing. And, He will keep you safe from harm, comfort you, and encourage you when the challenges from the enemy seem insurmountable. If you are considering or actually pursuing something using means that are against the Will of God, that opportunity is not for you: Let go.

Reasons Affects Seasons

Your “Why” is BIG! Intentions are important to God. Your right motives, motivates God. Your heartfelt desire to help others. Your sincerity, that if the person had none of that external stuff, you’d still love, protect, & care for them because of the goodness within them. Intentions, that clearly say, “God, this for Your Glory and not mine.” These types of respectable motives will move God to begin to move His Hand of Favor over your situations, moving out the dividing tactics of the enemy.

James 4:3 tells us that when we ask God for something, there are times, “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” At times one’s personal desire is to be seen in a good light, to look good. To be perceived as prestigious, monetarily blessed, successful, or well liked. Sometimes, it’s to appease desires of what a parent wants for you instead of what God wants for you. God gave you a creative talent that spurs you to want to be a film producer, but they insisted you go to medical school and become a doctor. Or, you’re pursuing a relationship, not because a genuine love and appreciation exists for the nature of the person’s heart, but the money they may make, the recognition they achieve, or the connects they have could boost your status. Thus, the struggles and obstacles mount. In these cases, your motives calls for a personal reflection with God so you can begin to see yourself as He sees you, which is you’re; significant, talented, and complete in Him, therefore you need not seek it anywhere else but on the inside of you! So, Let go.

Non-Stop Rise to the Top

At times, in pursuit of things, we can make mistakes, and end up in very unsavory situations. Possibly, you had right intentions to enter into a partnership, but later realized it was a mistake. Maybe, an unfortunate occurrence happened because you forgot to consult with someone on your team or seek God’s thoughts on the situation, and you or others took actions, that produced undesirable results, without pertinent information. Or, you’ve survived the worst of a personal romantic encounter, but now know it was never supposed to be. Regardless of how the mishap happened, all is not lost. We serve a merciful God who can, and is faithful to, work good out of your mistakes! There only needs to be a willingness to let Him help you. Secondly, all the regret, guilt, or shame, only holds you back, and has no place once you give Him your ashes to allow Him to turn them into a crown of beauty, so hand them over to Him: Let go.

What I’m about to refer to next, I’m sure you have heard several times; let go of past hurts. There is never a good reason to hold on to them. As a matter of fact, the plans of God for your life, once you focus on them can help you to move forward in saying as Paul did in Philippians 3:13, “…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”. It’s easier said than done, as you still holding onto that anger towards those involved, and feel like your life will never recover. But that’s a lie from the pit! Let me tell you, beloved, thinking like that drains power from you and puts it right into the hands of the enemy. Understand, that when you yield to God, allowing Him to lead you, to heal you, to redeem you, no disappointments, no let downs, no mistakes can stop you or hold you down. You can still rise above the storm clouds that put a dreary overcast of your life in your eyes. Put down the desire to ruin someone else’s life because you think they ruined yours. Because that kind of pursuit is what would actually ruin your life. Trust that anything you’ve lost, God never made it a significant part of your future. It was in your life for a reason for a season. Then, you’ll begin to notice a relief come upon you as you: Let go and move forward.

Maybe this has helped you to confirm that you’re right on point, to hold on to all that is right for you. And, that is certainly my prayer for you. But, if you realize that you’re holding a part of your life in a cage, Let Go. Because you deserve the hopeful future that’s Divinely stored up waiting for you. You can start to align your will with Gods, letting go of anything opposite. Ensure the ways you achieve your desires have respectable means to an end, releasing methods that are actually holding you back. Secure your future with motives that motivates God to release blessings into your life, letting go of any that blocks blessings. And, remember when including God in your life, no matter what’s happened before, you can still ride with Him non-stop to the top, letting go of the past.

To evaluate a bit deeper, when you have more time to contemplate, here’s something to help you determine what or who you may need to Let Go. All questions may not apply to you, but the one or more that may, can begin to produce great breakthroughs for you!

  1. How does the endeavor or person you’re pursuing, or attempting to keep, fit into God’s Will for you?
  2. What are your motives for pursuing that goal or person? Why do you want it/him/her?
  3. In your actions taken to achieve your desired outcome, how has each action encouraged, enhanced, nourished, and protected others involved?
  4. Without wishing for the restoration of what was good before the mistake or disappointment happened, how would you like to see your life improve from this point forward?

As you begin to prayerfully do this, being transparently honest with yourself and God, and Let Go of all that is unnecessary, I’m believing your latter days will be greater than your former!
