How to Know When to Let Go

A pursuit at holding onto something or someone you’re afraid of losing. Endeavors to attempt to regain something or someone you’ve lost. Efforts at trying to obtain something or someone you’ve never had but desire. These are all areas wherein the question that arises, after a long quest of trying, is: when is it time to let go? This may sound a little pessimistic to some, but one thing I hope you’ll appreciate is that God loves you too much to leave you on what may be a dead end road. So, hang in here with me the rest of the way, and may God open the eyes of your heart to be enlightened by His illumination of the blessings He has stored up for you. As hard as it is to let something or someone go, when it comes to what God has waiting to give you, once your hands are free, and though you may not be able to fathom it now, it will result in being the greatest thing you’ve ever done.

It can be common to feel overwhelmed, desperate, anxious, and irritable because what you’ve longed for seems like it will never happen. It can zap your energy, enthusiasm, and self-esteem, making you want to throw in the towel on everything. But, I want to let you know that two things you should never give up on are LIFE and GOD! Despite what may not be working for you, God has something greater for you ahead both right here in the land of the living and for eternal life beyond.

We know that with God all things are possible, right? So, why even consider when it’s time to let something or someone go? Because, unfortunately in the realities of life filled with the invigorating and the disappointing, it is possible to have faith for the wrong things. Unfortunately, when this happens, and faith seems not to work like a person thinks it should, I’ve seen them give up on God. This is a tragedy, when it really wasn’t anything wrong with God, who He is and how He works. It’s simply a misunderstanding of who He is, and how He operates in our lives.

It’s helpful to begin with knowing that God is a God of progress and of growth. He is a God that provides increase. What this means is that because we are created in His image and likeness, we too, are beings whose lives undergo a growth process for progress towards all we’re created to be. Every butterfly had to once let go of its caterpillar stage to increase its ability of movement with flight. The dragon fly lets go of what’s not working for him anymore by positively responding to the pressures of a shell that’s too small by breaking through it to free his increase. No, these transitions of letting go aren’t easy. Have you ever really looked into the process of a butterfly’s metamorphosis? Before it has any view of how its future will be, within the cocoon its essence is broken down into liquids to begin the process of becoming that butterfly. Yes, it’s painful to feel like letting go will break you down. But, it’s taking you towards an authentic essence of who you are, making and molding you, to prepare you for the beautiful outcome that’s in front of you! Beloved, whatever it is you’re holding onto, it may be a shell that’s too small. It may be a stage & season of your life that’s beneath the level you are suppose to be soaring at… if only you will let go.

Now, I’m intentionally saying, “it may be…”, so how do you truly know if it is time to let go? You can begin by checking to see if you and God are on the same page.

Match of Wills Prevents Stand Stills

First & foremost, like a child wanting a cigarette vs. a frozen yogurt popsicle, what you desire to achieve and receive is affected by if it is in the Will of God for you. This is not to say that what is in the Will of God will be easy to obtain or maintain. As a matter of fact, that is so far from the truth because the enemy will oppose almost every move you make, attempting to block you from doing what God destined you to do. There’s a way, however, to determine whether or not what comes against you is God saying no. Or, if He’s saying yes and it’s the enemy trying to block you.

If somehow you ended up outside of The Father’s desires for you, you’ll notice He’s lovingly corrective. In addition to that correction, you will look back in hindsight, seeing that He has already previously given you several warnings before hand by informing you with needed knowledge to enable you to make the wisest decisions. In these cases, in which you are chasing what is not in God’s Will for you, you’ll find yourself noticing and accurately saying more often than not; “It’s not working.” In sincerely seeking His heart’s desire for you, if you’re noticing these things: Let Go. He has something better for you!

In contrast, when you’re faithfully following God’s design, the enemy uses things like slander, deceit, gossip, threats, and manipulative trickery to hold you back from what you are pursuing. If you find this is the case, remember God is Sovereign and all powerful and never needs to fight dirty to get you to do what He wants you to do! So, HOLD ON TIGHT, IN FAITH! Whatever it is for you, that God wants you to do, DO NOT DROP THIS! The Lord is truthful. He will not tell you something then change His mind. And, as does a proud parent, He will often confirm the good steps you take in pursuing your endeavors.

Right Means to an End, End Rightly

Since He is a God of Righteousness, He will not approve of steps taken in deceit or underhandedness. As you walk with Him according to His leading, you will receive Divine assistance, from God and the Angels that do His bidding. In other words, He will guide you towards taking righteous actions towards what you are pursuing. And, He will keep you safe from harm, comfort you, and encourage you when the challenges from the enemy seem insurmountable. If you are considering or actually pursuing something using means that are against the Will of God, that opportunity is not for you: Let go.

Reasons Affects Seasons

Your “Why” is BIG! Intentions are important to God. Your right motives, motivates God. Your heartfelt desire to help others. Your sincerity, that if the person had none of that external stuff, you’d still love, protect, & care for them because of the goodness within them. Intentions, that clearly say, “God, this for Your Glory and not mine.” These types of respectable motives will move God to begin to move His Hand of Favor over your situations, moving out the dividing tactics of the enemy.

James 4:3 tells us that when we ask God for something, there are times, “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” At times one’s personal desire is to be seen in a good light, to look good. To be perceived as prestigious, monetarily blessed, successful, or well liked. Sometimes, it’s to appease desires of what a parent wants for you instead of what God wants for you. God gave you a creative talent that spurs you to want to be a film producer, but they insisted you go to medical school and become a doctor. Or, you’re pursuing a relationship, not because a genuine love and appreciation exists for the nature of the person’s heart, but the money they may make, the recognition they achieve, or the connects they have could boost your status. Thus, the struggles and obstacles mount. In these cases, your motives calls for a personal reflection with God so you can begin to see yourself as He sees you, which is you’re; significant, talented, and complete in Him, therefore you need not seek it anywhere else but on the inside of you! So, Let go.

Non-Stop Rise to the Top

At times, in pursuit of things, we can make mistakes, and end up in very unsavory situations. Possibly, you had right intentions to enter into a partnership, but later realized it was a mistake. Maybe, an unfortunate occurrence happened because you forgot to consult with someone on your team or seek God’s thoughts on the situation, and you or others took actions, that produced undesirable results, without pertinent information. Or, you’ve survived the worst of a personal romantic encounter, but now know it was never supposed to be. Regardless of how the mishap happened, all is not lost. We serve a merciful God who can, and is faithful to, work good out of your mistakes! There only needs to be a willingness to let Him help you. Secondly, all the regret, guilt, or shame, only holds you back, and has no place once you give Him your ashes to allow Him to turn them into a crown of beauty, so hand them over to Him: Let go.

What I’m about to refer to next, I’m sure you have heard several times; let go of past hurts. There is never a good reason to hold on to them. As a matter of fact, the plans of God for your life, once you focus on them can help you to move forward in saying as Paul did in Philippians 3:13, “…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”. It’s easier said than done, as you still holding onto that anger towards those involved, and feel like your life will never recover. But that’s a lie from the pit! Let me tell you, beloved, thinking like that drains power from you and puts it right into the hands of the enemy. Understand, that when you yield to God, allowing Him to lead you, to heal you, to redeem you, no disappointments, no let downs, no mistakes can stop you or hold you down. You can still rise above the storm clouds that put a dreary overcast of your life in your eyes. Put down the desire to ruin someone else’s life because you think they ruined yours. Because that kind of pursuit is what would actually ruin your life. Trust that anything you’ve lost, God never made it a significant part of your future. It was in your life for a reason for a season. Then, you’ll begin to notice a relief come upon you as you: Let go and move forward.

Maybe this has helped you to confirm that you’re right on point, to hold on to all that is right for you. And, that is certainly my prayer for you. But, if you realize that you’re holding a part of your life in a cage, Let Go. Because you deserve the hopeful future that’s Divinely stored up waiting for you. You can start to align your will with Gods, letting go of anything opposite. Ensure the ways you achieve your desires have respectable means to an end, releasing methods that are actually holding you back. Secure your future with motives that motivates God to release blessings into your life, letting go of any that blocks blessings. And, remember when including God in your life, no matter what’s happened before, you can still ride with Him non-stop to the top, letting go of the past.

To evaluate a bit deeper, when you have more time to contemplate, here’s something to help you determine what or who you may need to Let Go. All questions may not apply to you, but the one or more that may, can begin to produce great breakthroughs for you!

  1. How does the endeavor or person you’re pursuing, or attempting to keep, fit into God’s Will for you?
  2. What are your motives for pursuing that goal or person? Why do you want it/him/her?
  3. In your actions taken to achieve your desired outcome, how has each action encouraged, enhanced, nourished, and protected others involved?
  4. Without wishing for the restoration of what was good before the mistake or disappointment happened, how would you like to see your life improve from this point forward?

As you begin to prayerfully do this, being transparently honest with yourself and God, and Let Go of all that is unnecessary, I’m believing your latter days will be greater than your former!

The Prayer that Can Change Your Life

Lord Jesus, there are some things I’ve done & some not of my own doing that has affected my soul & spirit in undesirable ways. I believe Oh Lord Jesus, that You are The Christ, my Lord & Savior, the Son of the One & Only Living God. I believe in my heart that You died on the Cross & was risen making us a way to eternal life.

I want to accept Your Gift of Grace, by confessing to You that I’ve [***insert confessions here***]. I repent of these things, and will strive with all integrity, to change my life to represent Your Will for me, so I can have peace, love, joy, & faith and my latter days will be greater than my former days. Please come into my heart & cleanse it, take reign over my life, redeem my soul, and put a right & willing spirit in me. Teach me Your ways, Lord, Your ways towards the everlasting hope & future You so graciously provide.

Thank You, Jesus, for making me one of the redeemed that is able to rejoice & say so!

Warning! Overwhelming Joy Gained with Just a Few Things!

Joyful ReunionA woman I know, made some decisions in her young years that proved to be regretful. She had two abortions in the span of her 20’s. They were decisions she felt, at the times, were right. After all, they were allowed by the law of the land, yet it wasn’t easy for her to do. Regret hid under layers of achievements, smiles, and outer adornment. Later, it could hide no longer as it hit her even harder when she realized the reality of having made those decisions from God’s perspective. I remember her story well, how one day while going home from an appointment, on a warm sunny summer afternoon. The conviction of her actions hit her like a ton of bricks. Tears covered her face beneath her eyes. Her body began to heave as she sobbed, so much so she had to pull over to maintain control of her vehicle while her uncontrollable weeping to took over.

A man, who got fed up with years of mistreatment and abuse, took matters into his own hands and lost nearly two decades of his life as a result, and now needs to rebuild his life, his relationships, and his confidence.

Someone else made some risky decisions as a stock broker and experienced, what he saw as a catastrophic loss, that caused self-resentment and fear that he’d lose a lot more.

And, your story is…?

Despite what it is, trust, you are not alone. We all have one, maybe more. As a matter of fact, Romans 3:23 states that “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”  And, unfortunately, there’s no running away from the fact that what was done was done; that what was said was said; or that the accident/incident happened. Be it 30 minutes ago, 30 months ago, or 30 years ago, you have carried around a regretful heart full of sorrow that has, in your eyes, grayed out all of your tomorrows, because…

What do you do when something you’ve done can’t be undone?

What do you do when something has gone wrong and it can no longer be made right?

What do you do when something was said knowing words can never be unsaid?

There’s a few things you can do. They will begin to position you to receive, as Isaiah 61:3 says, all The Lord promised to His children, which is to “…provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”  It all starts as you…

Embrace Everlasting Love

Understand that no matter how bad you think it was, God loves you with an everlasting love. A love He will never take away from you. Though it has seemed to elude you, joy is still in reach for you. It sits at your step waiting for you to take it in. This gift has engraved on it something for you to remind yourself of daily in saying, Psalm 27:13 “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.” Because He wants you to share in His happiness. Isaiah 30:18 ERV states that “…the Lord is waiting to show his mercy to you. He wants to rise and comfort you. The Lord is the God who does the right thing, so he will bless everyone who waits for his help.”

You can embrace His love by spending time with Him, and embodying all the good things He says about you. And, emboldening yourself with how He chooses to shape, mold, and grow you. It’s important, however, to not be timid in approaching the Throne of Grace because of regrets of past deeds. One thing that helps with releasing the uneasiness to pray is to know that…

Conviction Does Not Equal Condemnation

You see, all too often, many of us can’t forgive ourselves for past failues that we’ve already asked God’s forgiveness for and yet have not continued to make. It’s because we fall into the trap of ungodly condemnation. Feelings of regret from past actions, despite how long ago, can come from two places, Holy Spirit conviction, or condemnation, sometimes interchanged with judgment, which sources from either the Holy Spirit, a misconstrued perspective of what’s right and wrong, or from demonic influences. Understanding the difference will help you to better discern where and why guilt arises, even if you’ve already confessed and repented according to the Will of The Lord. And, it will give you a gage to evaluate what you can use to allow  yourself to grow and what you can ignore and throw away.

Regarding Conviction, as John 16:8 ESV reminds us, the Holy Spirit comes to “…convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment”. And, this is, of course, in addition to all the other wonderful things that He comes to do for us with His comfort, defense, and power. To convict, according to the Biblical Greek meaning is to reprove, rebuke (which are both akin to reprimand) and to admonish (which is to warn) in regards to a person having done, or the propensity to do, something wrong. Revelation 3:19 MSG says “The people I love, I call to account—prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!” I absolutely love that it says …so that they’ll live at their best! Yes, as with a natural parent, He may have chided you, but He does so out of love because He wants you to be your best self; to come into all He’s made you to be. That chiding causes, what I call “good” guilt. The kind that makes you aware that what you’re about to do, or what was done or said, is wrong. That is very helpful, for example, when we have a thorn in our sides that we struggle with but don’t want to keep falling into. So, the Holy Spirit will sometimes send a word of conviction as a warning to give you a chance to decide to take the way out of what tempts you. Or, to give you a chance to confess and change towards more favorable actions.

On the other hand, Condemnation/Judgment is a final decision, a judgment, about a person based on what that person has been perceived as doing. God condemns or judge those who have deliberately decided to live in sin, despite knowing or having heard about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, yet rejects Him. Thus, trampling the Son of God under their feet as said according to Hebrews 10:29. But, if there is anyone you know who has taken this stance, don’t give up on them. Encourage them not to give up on seeing and living life God’s way. There’s still time for better decisions to be made. For 2 Peter 3:9 NIV, says that “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” This is part of His Gift of Grace that is available. The only thing needed is to ask and receive. Below, towards the end of the post, is a prayer that can lead you to that opportunity. Please share or retweet this article to give the Gift of God’s Grace to whoever needs it. The devil, however, who comes to kill your faith, steal your joy, and destroy your destiny will use condemnation as one of his tactics in attempts to complete those very assignments. An example we can clearly see where the enemy tried to do this is in Jesus’ trial and condemnation to be crucified. The enemy led people to wrongly condemn Jesus, but Jesus was not “convicted” in His Spirit by His Spirit as doing anything wrong because He had done nothing wrong. It is here where many of us get stuck in not forgiving ourselves because the enemy will wrongly cause you to feel condemned for either what you never did or what you already repented for and don’t do. Unfortunately, sometimes our own understanding of what is okay and not okay with God can play a part in the enemy’s making us regret things we should not feel guilty about. For instance, we sometimes feel guilty about what other people actually did wrong to us. It’s a form of false and misplaced guilt. This happens because we begin to believe his lies instead of believing the truths of God.

Hopefully, this has given you a clearer perspective on conviction versus condemnation, and helps you to accept that…

You Deserve Forgiveness, Even Your Own

Past memories have relentless ways of keeping the past in our present that causes us to judge ourselves out of our future. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate who stands for us and stands with us helping us to remember what Jesus taught us about His forgiveness and the freedom it has granted us. As we are reminded in Romans 8:1,4 ESV, that “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus… in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” So, when you begin to hear the nagging accusations remember that despite what you may think, you are worthy of forgiveness. Zechariah 3:1,3,4 shows us that what God thinks, is superior over what anyone else thinks in telling us that “The angel showed me Joshua the high priest, standing in front of the angel of the Lord and Satan was standing by Joshua’s right side. Satan was there to accuse Joshua of doing wrong. Joshua was wearing a dirty robe as he stood in front of the angel. Then the angel said to the other angels standing near him, ‘Take those dirty clothes off Joshua.’ Then the angel spoke to Joshua. He said, ‘Now, I have taken away your guilt, and I am giving you a new change of clothes.’”

Joshua didn’t fight the angels of The Lord, saying he doesn’t deserve to be happy. He didn’t look at the blessing in front of him and question “Why would God do this for me after all the wrong I’ve done?” He didn’t say, “No! Don’t put new clothes on me! I’m only going to dirty them again!” He simply received the Gift of Grace. He humbly accepted a new chance to do things differently. Despite what you’ve done, you can do things differently because…

Mistakes Allow for Better Remakes

Mistakes don’t make you stupid, they can make you smarter and stronger, if you let them. The woman in the opening story, as mentioned, originally thought she had made the right decisions, only to later find they weren’t right in God’s eyes. As she went further along in her story, her encounter with God proved to be a comforting one. Comforting in God’s unlimited understanding of the reasons behind, while not condoning, her actions at the time. In addition, The Lord began helping her to understand ways to make wiser decisions later. She knows now what she did not know then. And that makes her smarter and stronger. This understanding and guidance is available to you too. You may not be able to use it to correct what happened, but consider these:

  • Let God use you
    In having taken responsibility for your part in the mishap, how can what you learned to do or not to do help keep someone else from making the same missteps?
  • Let It Transform You
    What options, in line with the Will of God, are available to you to consistently do differently this time, to prevent what happened before?

You are not still here to allow your life to sink into the abyss of where the past lives. God’s giving you new mercies every morning to begin to restore and revive your life. It’s as close as you deciding to…

Claim Your Gift of Grace

You have mourned your mistake(s) long enough. According to Ecclesiastes 3:4, There’s “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;” As you read this message, know that your time to weep and mourn has reached its pivot point to now begin to become a time for you to laugh and dance. And, Psalm 126:6 “Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” Believe, beloved of God, the tears you’ve sown, in the Mighty Hands of God, can start to bring forth a harvest of joy!

It’s yours to take, beloved.

Will you take it? Allowing yourself to, first, embrace everlasting love from The Father. Second, build yourself by using the understanding the differences between Holy Spirit conviction and demonic condemnation to evaluate what to pay attention to and what to ignore. Third, believe that you deserve God’s forgiveness, as well as your own. Fourth, reconstruct your life, adding meaning by allowing God to transform your mistakes to remake them into something beautiful. And, fifth, LIVE, beloved! LIVE! By accepting the Gift of Grace, the Indescribable Gift that Jesus came and was crucified to provide. To do so, please pray the prayer in the included photo below.


Receive the Indescribable Gift of Grace

Father, thank You for the Gift of Grace that’s available because Your Son has Risen from the darkest depths of death to provide abundant everlasting life.

In this time of Your favor, I want to take this indescribable gift, and so, I confess from my heart with my mouth that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of the One and Only True and Living God.  Jesus is Christ, The Messiah.  I believe with my heart that He died on the Cross for my sins, and was raised to life to raise life in me.  Lord Jesus, please come into my heart, live in me, help me to live in You and for You.  I hand the reigns of my life to You, Jesus, making You my Lord and Savior.  I repent of my sins, and so choose to turn away from all of that which displeases & grieves Your Holy Spirit.  Please forgive me for my sins.  And, help me when and wherever I am weak-willed, or strong in self-will, in thought or deed, to remain on the Way of Everlasting.

I bless You, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, for who You are and all that You are. Thank You for the healing, wholeness, and restoration, in my soul, spirit, and body that my becoming a New Creation in Christ, as a Child of God, will bring.

Beauty is in the Inner Workings

About four months ago, I did what’s called the “big chop”! That’s a phrase that is popularly used among African American women who have decided to forgo hair relaxers that would alter our natural curl to make it straight. For decades I have used hair relaxers, and my hair was somewhat a medium length. But, recently to get back to my natural texture, I chopped it off! Now instead of sporting 12 inch hair length, it’s more like three inches long when it’s curly. Not everyone was happy with what I did. Many had some unkind comments even if some were indirect. But, consider this… what if I had cancer and lost all of my hair from the treatment? What if I had a disease called Alopecia in which the consequences is hair loss due to my body’s immune system attacking my hair follicles? The most important thing, when the temporary disappears either by personal choice or otherwise, is that my inner person, my heart, is still the same. Though it may become stronger in the ways of the Lord, through such experiences, not basing my value or allowing others to determine my self-worth based on my looks, but tending to what’s on the inside of me is what lasts and what should be honorable unto the Lord. When that’s done, if I lose what’s on the outside, I cannot lose what’s on the inside, which stays with me, and cannot be taken away from me. We get a peek into what’s important to God in 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV; “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’ ” This is what we are to model our inner selves after.  This is what is to be evaluated in others, and what others should look for in you.  All after the heart of The Lord.  For in that, child of God, is where your innate joy and firm confidence resides!

Recently you may have been dealing with undue & unGodly criticism of your outward appearance.  Accused of being too thick.  You looked better with your hair…  He’s ugly…  Whatever the remarks have been, be reminded you that you are beautiful the way God made you! Those who negatively comment, expressing disdain for your outer appearance resent something about themselves, in addition to having an “inner spirit” that is not set on the things of God, but instead it is set on fleshly (no pun intended) things. 1 Peter 3:3,4 NIV says; “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” These verses teach us that we are to be concerned with things that are eternal & “unfading”, not temporary as are outward appearances. Of course this does not suggest we walk around unkempt. Nor does it mean, for those of us who have a natural talent and flare for style that we should not enjoy participating in dressing fashionably.  It also does not mean that we should not strive to keep our bodies healthy with periodic exercise and healthy eating habits, for our bodies are the dwelling places of the Spirit of the Most High God.  What these verses are advising is to place worth in that which is most important and lasting. Life is ever changing, as are people and their varying and unique opinions. If you measure your value by your looks, you will be unstable in your opinion of yourself, becoming a human version of a chameleon all in efforts to be accepted. In doing this, you continuously set yourself up for disappointment and exhaustion when you cannot consistently live up to what others expect of you.

In instances where you are in the presence of continuous opinionated negativity, being judged based on your appearance, stand strong in the Word of the Lord! Many blessings have been lost, missed, and forfeited due to choices made that were set upon the shaky and shifting grounds of outward appearances. This issue is not solely relative to personal relationships and outward beauty, but also equally applies to healthcare, educational, and business relationships in regards to race, gender, education level, ethnicity, and socioeconomic standing. You may be an experienced and well-prepared Mexican or African American nurse, but a patient didn’t want your services because you weren’t the race or ethnicity they desired.  Yet, you know in your heart of hearts, you are a Divinely designed nurturer and are great at your job.  I just read about a person who was desperately seeking direction from an adviser, but turned down the person available to him because the available person did not fit his external criteria for an adviser.  As this man experienced others he thought would fill his needs, he found they all came up short.  Could it be the one he’s been rejecting, based on outward appearances, is the very one who holds his blessing?  It certainly is possible.  Despite what a person thinks, despite if they have chosen or chooses to leave for another person who they think “looks” better, be confident in knowing that the most valuable blessing you bring to the people around you is what you carry in your spirit. If that is pleasing in The Lord’s sight and yet is not what they appreciate and see as valuable, let them go. God will send more suitable opportunities your way!

At this day and time, we still need to learn to look beyond what we perceive as external barriers to find the beauty within ourselves that connects us in unity.  As we push forth in that process of finding and living out the unity of the Love of God, when the unnecessary, the temporary, the fading, gets in the way, refuse to be set back. Resist trying to get them back. Renounce the feeling of being taken aback by such types of attack.  Stay in peace with an understanding that it’s not the bling on the outside, but your inner shine is what matters most.  And, simply pray that God will enter the hearts and have His way with your critics. Ignore their hurtful comments, leaving them in the hands of The Father, because you are made in the image & likeness of God, who penned your unique design, weaved you together in your mother’s womb, and spoke forth, “And it is Good!” Be assured that when the Word of the Lord is spoken, the Church says “Amen!” because it is so!

It’s a Shift Made Room For Right

At times it seems the most difficult to recover from a broken heart as we are still staring at the broken pieces.  It’s only when we choose to look up and peer beyond them that we can see any hope to climb up and over the heap.  Now is that time!  The broken pieces of your heart is no longer at your feet or in your hands.  God has taken over and is ready to do the mending, if you let Him.

Forgive those who left you in your deepest time of need. It was a light shed upon the truth of their nature of choice which made room for another or others who can deliver on genuine faithfulness, love, & loyalty.   And, though it may seem as if life has fallen or is falling apart, it’s simply getting started to come together.  For, if God allowed you to come to it & He is going to bring you through it, because He has brought you too far to leave you now.  Get into your heart, into your spirit, that though they disappointed you, they could not stop you from moving forward, onward, upward, towards your destiny!  Activate your healing as you humble yourself before God, hold on to The Rock, staying prayerful and faithful, never being afraid to…

“… approach God’s throne of grace with Confidence, so that [you] may receive Mercy and find Grace to help [you] in [your] time of [ANY] need.” Hebrews 4:16 NIV

The spirit of heaviness is broken off of you now, as the Garment of Praise covers you, and a Joy washes over you because The Lord our God will never leave you, nor will He forsake you!  And, Yes, He hears your prayers! So, even if you haven’t yet seen how, believe it’s all working together for your good!  Greater is coming!  Walk in expectancy!

Before Giving by Gifting the Treasure Within

Gifting the Treasure of YouYou want blessings of peace; love; family; friends; financial stability; and all the great things you long for in the privacy of your spirit. And, guess what… God thinks you deserve them because He longs for you to share in His happiness! But the pain of some experiences has pixilated your eyes with shards of a broken heart, and you are left wondering why the joy you seek is eluding you. Though in reality it only seems to be. The word seems is emphasized because the great things God has for you are stored up for you, and being released according to His timing, but due to the distractions of the reactions to the wounds of your soul, they become hidden in plain sight. You have been empowered to live a pro-active, not a reactive, life. In other words, you are not doomed to have to react to life’s circumstances, but can be groomed by the Word of God to actively live your life within the power given to you by The Father. Only free and clear hands can enable you to grasp the blessings God’s got waiting for you, and so there’s need to let go of all that heavily weighs you down.

Instead of holding tightly to all of what you have left and placing it behind a burdensome two-foot thick unbreathable inflexible concrete barrier of self-protection, or coercing repayment to take back what you’ve felt hurtful situations stole from you, you can practice “Before Giving” to allow yourself to “Be Forgiving”. There is a common belief that forgiveness is simply admitting to others that you’ve forgiven those who wronged you, when in reality the evidence of true forgiveness additionally includes how you move forward in handling new experiences with those who hurt you (this may even be yourself) and new people who enter your life.  Often once having been disappointed, we lock away the best of who we are, but in doing so we shortchange ourselves and the new people who enter our lives because they just may not live up to expectations.  Imagine clinging to something to keep it back as it was trying to go forward.  To hold it back from going forth, you aren’t able to move forward either.  Defy that temptation and move onward and upward by proactively choosing to give before getting what you expect.  Our Heavenly Father did this for us. Before we ever gave Him a confession, an admission of our wrong doings, and handed over our baggage full of sins, “…God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him would not be lost but have eternal life.(John 3:16 ERV)  He gave us grace, mercy, love, and freedom from repayment, before we ever did anything deserving of what He gave us.

Understandably, this may seem difficult to do, in that naturally there is an innate desire to either, prevent painful things from happening again, or attempt to vindicate oneself. You are afraid, beloved. Afraid of having to pick up pieces of yourself all over again.  Scared of the thought of those who look up to you looking down upon you. Fearful that they’ll never understand. To overcome this requires “Before Giving”.  Firstly, to give whatever it is you fear might happen over to God before it happens by using Faith as Expectation.

Expect God to protect you with His guidance, putting the right people in your life; “For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.” Psalm 48:14 NIV

Expect Him to warn you of and around menacing mishaps; “There’s more: God’s Word warns us of danger and directs us to hidden treasure.” Psalm 19:11 MSG

Expect Your Heavenly Father to vindicate you when others have wronged you; “The Lord will vindicate His people…” Deuteronomy 32:36 NIV and “…for it is written: ‘It is Mine to avenge; I will repay’, says the Lord” Romans 12:19 NIV

Though you may not always notice or be aware of these things happening, stay close to the Lord and trust that He will do them for you; “For the Word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does.”  (Psalm 33:4 NIV)  This will give you freedom from taking on the responsibility of spending precious time and energy of trying to do all of this for yourself. These truths gives you the freedom to live your life. It frees you to give people, drawing from the treasure within you, the best of who you are according to God’s Will and how He created you.

That two-foot thick surrounding wall has been impermeable, trapping the best of you in and keeping the best God has for you out. Though, we need levels of protection, that protection must be created in a way that allows a bi-directional transfer of the good, while keeping out the bad. No one else has mastered this as well as our Omniscient God!  Thus secondly, while now knowing to trust God to give you that proper form of defense, give grace and mercy to others before you get it. Give kindness to others before you get it. Give respect to others before you get it. Give gentleness to others before you get it. Give love before you get it. Whatever it is you’re holding so tightly to, afraid to give it away for fear of not receiving what you believe you deserve, due to past hurts or struggles, freely give it to others. By doing this, you are “For [Old English meaning before]” “giving”. You are giving what is in God’s good and perfect Will without expecting payment for what you think is owed to you.  Ephesians 4:32 NIV mentions to “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”   Put the worries aside, The Lord sees all you do, and has your blessings already lined up for you on a Divine time release schedule waiting for you to take hold of them!

I can hear you now, saying “but what if…” “What if I am mocked or ridiculed again?” “What if this new person wounds my heart like the one before?” “What if I make another poor decision?” Shift your “What if’s” from bottom level thinking to the top and enjoy the ride as you thrust forward at high speed!

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 NIV

This is not to say that you’ll never encounter painful circumstances or encounters. For, Jesus never promised that we’d have a perfect problem free life. But, what if the new person or people are the ones you’ve been praying for, who are generous, loving, honest, and respectful?!  What if this is the chance to restore the love unity and quality time you once had with the people you love and with whom you have longed to reconcile? What if the new opportunity to make a decision is a second chance that will allow you to apply what you learned from your last mistake, and reel in a great opportunity? This is the chance you’ve been praying for!  Will you allow past mistakes and painful experiences keep you from God’s best for you?!  Be-Fore-giving…   Forgive him…  Forgive her…  Forgive them…  Forgive yourself…  making room in the hands of your heart for all God’s best that’s ahead of you!


Prayer of Release through Forgiveness

Father in Heaven, Thank You for the forgiveness You provided to me before I was even a twinkle in my mother’s womb. Heal my broken heart, Lord, relieving me from the pain of betrayals and any of my own unwise choices. I seek to freely and effortlessly love myself as You love me, so I may love others as I love myself, helping me to release the fruits of Your Holy Spirit, as listed in Galatians 5:22-23, to all of whom I encounter. Empower me to lean and trust in You, Mighty God, to recognize what and who has been placed before me by You.  And, enable me to confidently walk in the kind of faith that conquers fears of the unknown as I take hold of each and every blessing authored by Your Hand. You, Oh Sovereign Lord, deserve all the honor and praise! Glory to God!
